Bugaboo Kangaroo Review
First Impressions
When I first received the Bugaboo Kangaroo through the Stellar Product Testing Panel, I was immediately excited. As a mom of two daughters, ages 3.8 years and 1 year old, with a third baby on the way in March, I couldn’t wait to test this stroller. The sleek metal frame combined with the leather handles gave it a premium feel, and the Desert Taupe color I received was stunning. The color resembles a khaki tone and pairs beautifully with the stroller’s overall design, creating a luxurious look.
Setup was surprisingly simple. The bassinet came mostly pre-assembled, requiring just a few clicks to get everything ready. Converting the bassinet to the 6+ configuration required a bit more effort, as you have to detach the frame from the bassinet and reattach it to the 6+ chair. Despite this, the process wasn’t overly complicated.
Features That Stand Out
The Bugaboo Kangaroo has several standout features:
- Storage: The larger under-seat basket is a game changer compared to my Bugaboo Fox 3. It holds up to 28.6 lbs and even includes four pockets (two in the front and two in the back) for easy organization.
- Ventilation: The bassinet’s improved airflow ensures my baby stays cool and comfortable during walks.
- Design Details: The embroidered rhombus-shaped patterns on the fabric give the stroller a sophisticated look.
- Ease of Use: The extra-large storage bin is perfect for essentials like a potty chair, diaper bag, and more.
Functionality & Design
Ease of Assembly and Adjustments
Adjustments are incredibly easy with this stroller. I particularly love the one-touch reclining feature for the 6+ chair. On my Bugaboo Fox 3, I had to unlatch the chair and manually move the bar at the bottom to adjust its position. With the Kangaroo, a simple press and hold of a button allows for effortless reclining, even to a full 90-degree flat position.
The handlebars are just as easy to adjust. With a quick press and pull, I can extend them to the most comfortable height. The addition of a wrist strap makes steering the stroller with one hand much simpler, which is a lifesaver for busy parents.
Comfort for Baby and Parent
Both of my daughters enjoy riding in the stroller. My eldest loves sitting with her younger sister, and the 5-point harness keeps them safe and secure. For me, the ease of maneuvering and the luxurious design make outings more enjoyable.
Performance in Different Environments
The Kangaroo performs exceptionally well on various terrains. It glides smoothly on concrete, asphalt, and even grass, ensuring a comfortable ride for my girls. The wrist strap adds stability, making it easier to navigate uneven surfaces.
Usability
Age Range and Weight Limits
The main seat supports toddlers up to 50 lbs, while the sibling seat holds up to 40 lbs. The bassinet is suitable for newborns from birth to a maximum weight of 20 lbs.
Straps and Fasteners
The 5-point harness is straightforward to use and secure. It’s easy for adults to unbuckle but designed to prevent toddlers from removing it themselves—a thoughtful feature for active little ones.
Everyday Use
I’ve used this stroller for a variety of situations, including grocery shopping, park visits, and errands. It handles everything effortlessly, making it a practical choice for busy parents.
Portability and Cleaning
While the stroller isn’t the most compact, it fits snugly in my Model Y alongside our cooler. Cleaning is simple: a quick wipe-down with a damp cloth is usually enough, but the fabrics are machine washable if needed.
Additional Features
The stroller’s built-in storage pockets, extra airflow, and weather-resistant materials make it highly functional for everyday use.
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Versatility to accommodate three children at different stages.
- Larger under-seat basket with convenient pockets.
- Luxurious design and high-quality materials.
- Easy-to-use reclining and adjustment features.
Cons
- The need to purchase separate toddler seat attachments for each Bugaboo stroller model feels unnecessary. A universal toddler chair would be a more practical solution.
Recommendation
The Bugaboo Kangaroo is a fantastic investment for families with two or more children or those planning to grow their family. It’s versatile, stylish, and built to adapt to your needs as your children grow. I’m excited to use this stroller with my third baby soon—placing her in the bassinet, my 1-year-old in the tandem seat, and my 3.5-year-old in the toddler chair.
For parents seeking a high-quality stroller that can grow with their family, I wholeheartedly recommend the Bugaboo Kangaroo.
